For any lover of adventure and nature, Patagonia undoubtedly sits at the top of the bucket list. The 400,000+ square mile region offers travelers a bit of everything. From vineyards to jagged mountain peaks, lush forests to expansive glaciers, Patagonia boasts some of the most spectacular landscape in the world. And with the creation of new parks and new roads, it is more accessible than ever.
Covering such a vast area of land, travelers will undoubtedly have to focus their attention. Some will opt to see specific territories of Patagonia, be it the Lake District or Tierra del Feugo. Residing in both Chile and Argentina, visitors choosing this tactic will move between the two countries in order to explore the district in its entirety.
Others might tackle just one country, preferring to work their way North to South (or vice versa) through the different regions of Chilean or Argentinian Patagonia. You’ll see more diverse landscapes but likely not dive as deeply into each (unless you had multiple weeks of vacation).
One approach is no better than the other, as they both offer travelers an opportunity to explore one of the most sparsely populated and beautiful regions in the world. But if you’re looking for some suggestions here’s a Chilean Patagonia Itinerary, created in partnership with Wilderness Inquiry.
